Today’s Scripture(s) – Matthew 18:35 (read Matthew 18:21-35)

“So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.”

This verse of scripture comes on the heels of Peter asking the Lord “…how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him?…” (see verse 21).  Forgiveness is something that many of us have trouble with, but I tell you it is something that we must get right if we want to see the Lord.  All of us, every one of us have done something, no matter how minuscule, every one of us has done or said something that at some point we had to ask someone or should have asked someone to forgive us for.  The Lord says in today’s verse of scripture that we are to forgive from our hearts.  You see there are those that say “I forgive you” but they are only words spoken.  The lips say I forgive, but the heart does not, the heart holds on to the wrong that was done and here are some things that happen when the heart is unforgiving: bitterness creeps in, sickness creeps in and then comes death.  When we do not forgive we hurt ourselves more than the one we are not forgiving.  Oh, it does not happen right away.  It does not happen the very next day.  The longer we hold on to being unforgiving the deeper the wound we create within and as the wound goes deeper roots of bitterness spread down and out and roots of sickness take hold and spread inwardly as well and as these two dig deep and begin to fester, then comes death.  For any of you that are harboring anything against anyone, RELEASE IT TODAY.  Take it to the Lord and lay it at His feet, ask Him to forgive you for being unforgiving and begin to thank Him for giving to you a forgiving heart.   We want the Father to forgive us our trespasses we must be willing to forgive those that trespass against us.   Matthew 6:12 “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.”  Luke 11:4a “And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive everyone that is indebted to us. …”  Luke 17:3 “Take heed to yourselves: if thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.”  Matthew 6:14-15 “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”  And one last verse: Mark 11:25 “And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”

If You Have Not Made Jesus Lord Of Your Life Pray This Prayer:

Today Lord, right this very minute I acknowledge that I am a sinner and I need a Savior. Your word says that there is no other name under heaven by which a man or woman can be saved and that name is Jesus. Today I repent of every sin that I have ever committed, I repent of every sin that I have done and I ask you Jesus to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. I believe that you Lord Jesus shed your precious blood and died for my sins, I am willing to turn from sin and live a life that is holy and pleasing in your sight. I now invite you Christ Jesus to come into my heart and live in me and be my personal Savior. I ask that you would fill me with your precious Holy Spirit, lead and guide me in this life Lord Jesus. Thank you for saving my soul. Amen.
