A Prayer A Day- 4/1/2015
Don’t Be Tangled Up!
Today’s Scripture(s) – 2 Timothy 2:3-4
“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”
Suffering, many of us suffer many things. Some more than others, but we, Child of God, have the Lord Jesus Christ, we, Child of God have the Holy Ghost and He will help us in our time of need. What we must learn to do is ‘endure’. Endure – to undergo (as a hardship) especially without giving in; to continue in the same state. We must learn ‘steadfastness’. We must become rooted and grounded in the word of the Lord. It’s nice to be able to quote scripture but what is better is getting scripture, the word of God, deep down inside us and applying His word to our lives. We must be doers of the Word and not hearers only, for if we are hearers of the Word only we deceive our own selves, (see James 1:22). We, who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, are soldiers, we are soldiers in the army of the Lord and a soldier does not go to battle without having on his armor. A soldier does not go to battle without putting on his armor and a soldier does not get wrapped up, tangled up, tied up or ensnared with civilians and the civilian life style. The soldier remembers he is a soldier and conducts himself accordingly so as not to bring reproach on his commander. A soldier disciplines himself with diligence and learns his duties and responsibilities. A soldier carries out the orders given to him to the letter. The Soldier of God: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15) and the Soldier of God endures hardness, (suffering), as a good soldier of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is our goal as soldiers in the army of the Lord to be a sweet smelling savour to God the Father. We have been chosen for such a time as this SOLDIER and we must endure, we must stand, we must, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58).
Today’s Prayer:
Father I thank you for another day. Lord I thank you for waking me up to see another day that you have made and I will rejoice and be glad in it! Father I thank you for touching me and waking me up this morning and I bless you Father for keeping watch over me as I slept on last night. Father I thank you for my family and all my brothers and sisters in you Lord Jesus. Thank you Father for being a blessing to each and every one of them, thank you Father God for keeping watch over them, thank you Father God for your mercy and your grace on their lives. I thank and praise you Lord Jesus for your blood that covers them, that cloaks them, that soaks them from the top of their heads to the very soles of their feet. I bless you Father God for the angels that you have given charge over them to keep them in all their ways. I thank and praise you Father for being a wall of fire all around about them that no evil can penetrate. Bless you Father God for opening doors for them, bless you Father God for provision, you are our provider and you provide all that we need according to your riches in glory by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you Father God! Father today I ask that you would help each one of us to endure hardness as good soldiers in your army. We want to be steadfast unmovable always abounding in the work that you have given, that you have entrusting in our hands Lord. Give us the mind to turn to you always when faced with difficulties, with stress or worries, give us the mind to turn to you Lord for you are our peace, you are the one who fights for us and cares for us and takes care of us. You Lord hear our cries, you Lord hear our groans, you hear us Father God and you move on our behalf and I thank you Lord, I thank you! We want to be good soldiers Lord and we declare today that we will not be entangled with the affairs of this life. We will not be entangled with the things of this world. We set our eyes, we set our hearts on you Lord and we seek you Lord. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Father I praise you. Father I adore you. Father I give you all glory, all honor, all worship, all praise. You are so great and you are so wonderful and I bless your great name. Continue to lead us and guide us Lord. Order our steps in your word. Thank you Father God. Bless you Father God. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
