Today’s Scripture(s) – Mark 4:26-28
“And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.”
Does a seed planted in the ground just suddenly overnight produce a full grown mature plant? We live in a microwave society, a society that wants what it wants and wants it ‘RIGHT NOW’. This is not the way of the kingdom of God. This is not the way of the things of God, but many want the Lord to move for them ‘RIGHT NOW’. Many want the Lord, when they call to Him asking and demanding they want what they are asking and demanding for ‘RIGHT NOW’. For many of us this scripture verse is null and void: James 1:4 “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” For many of us we want the anointing of God to fall on us and we are not willing to lay aside the sins that so easily beset us. We are not willing to spend one hour in prayer. We are not willing to spend time studying the Word of God. We are not willing to sit in His presence at home alone and not in the company of the crowd at church. We are not willing to cry out to the Lord to open our ears to hear and our eyes to see what it is He wants. We are not willing to die to self and truly take up our cross and follow Him wherever He leads, but we want Him to anoint us, we want Him to appoint us, we want Him to bless us, we want Him to use us, so we say. I just want to keep it real this morning Children of the most High God. How many of us in truth will roll out of bed at 2:30 or 3:00am should the Holy Spirit of God awake us and we feel the warmth and heat of His presence on us to pray or get into His Word, because He wants to speak to us? How many of us will excuse ourselves from a conversation to go to a solitary place to commune with the Lord, should the Holy Spirit of God compel us at that moment? How many of us will give up the things that we so desperately think that we want and desire because in our hearts, what the Lord desires is more important? How many? I am not condemning anyone. I am not pointing the finger at anyone. I am giving YOU and ME something to ponder in our hearts. When we cry out to the Lord: “Lord, I want to know you! Lord, I need you! Lord, use me for your glory! Lord, draw me closer to you! Lord, cleanse my heart! Lord, I want to be holy!” and He comes calling out to us to come, and He comes and says: ‘FOLLOW ME’ and we lay in bed, and we say later Lord, and we say not right now, and we say I don’t have time, and we say I can’t let go of this or that, and we say I can’t give up this or that. This is what we sound like: Luke 9:59 “And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.” This is our response to the Lord but, we want Him to anoint us ‘RIGHT NOW’. We want the seed to sprout full grown overnight. That’s not going to happen. We have to spend time in the ground maturing. We have to spend time, sometimes sacrificed time, in His presence allowing Him to cultivate us pulling out the weeds, cutting away the dead things. It’s not a feel good process, but if we want His anointing, if we want to truly see the kingdom of God we have to be willing to submit and surrender all to Him ‘RIGHT NOW’, with patience.
Father God in the name of Jesus I come to you this day with thanks and praise in my heart. I thank you Lord for all things. I thank you for my life my health and my strength. I thank you for being my peace, my protection and my help in the time of need. Today Father I ask that you would endow me with patience, not just any patience Lord, but patience to walk out my place in and with you, fulfilling my purpose and destiny that you have called and chosen me for. I don’t want to rush the process. I want you Lord to have your perfect work in me. I want to grow to maturity in you to be used for your glory, to be used to bring you honor and praise. I want to produce fruit, good fruit Father God. I want my fruit to be good and I want it to remain so I ask you Lord to cultivate me, work on me Holy Spirit! I will sow to myself in righteousness, I will break up my fallow ground and I will seek you Lord till you come and rain righteousness on me! Father I praise you and glorify your great and holy name. I give you glory Lord and I thank you, thank you thank you.
