Throw It Off!
Today’s Scripture(s) – Mark 10:49-50
Are you ready, truly ready to see Jesus? Are you ready truly ready to move forward in Him and do His will and walk rightly in His ways? Today’s Scripture(s) – Mark 10:49-50 depicts someone ready to see Jesus “And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they called the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.” Bartimaeus was a man that was blind and he sat by the highway side begging and when he heard that Jesus was passing his way he started crying out, I would say screaming out for Jesus to have mercy on him and the people where telling him to be quiet but he didn’t, he screamed out even more for the Lord. Are you crying out to the Lord? Oh, I don’t mean that usual crying out to Him about ‘stuff’, I mean crying out to Him to the point of Him stopping and taking notice of who’s crying out to, screaming out for Him. There is a certain sound to a cry of desperation. There is a certain sound to a cry of brokenness. There is a certain sound that emanates from the heart that causes this reaction from God the Father: “Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth. There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals where kindled by it. He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.” Psalm 18:7-9 (think on that). Child of God when Bartimaeus cried out screamed out to the Lord and the Lord stopped and called for him to be brought this is the first thing Bartimaeus did, “he threw away his old garment.” He tossed that thing right off. I see that action right there to be so very significant, (think on that). We must be willing to toss away the old clothes, the old ways and the old things in order to receive the new. Some of us want to keep the old clothes on and want the Lord to bless us with new. And, some of us have allowed the enemy to trick us into believing that it’s ok to hold on to the old clothes, the old things and old ways and incorporate God into them. Look, we cannot clean up ourselves, only the Lord can cleanse us of all unrighteousness but this one thing we are able to do and that is: Be willing to be cleansed, yield our will and our way to Him. Be willing to cast off the old garment.
