A Prayer A Day 03/7/2017 – Blessing and Cursing
Today’s Scripture Verse(s) – 1 Corinthians 15:33-34a
I feel as though I have spoken about the mouth a lot. I know that is from the Lord. Our mouths can have us in a world of trouble because so often we do not govern what comes out of it. The book of James talks about the tongue in chapter 3 how it is a fire and a world of iniquity. The tongue defiles the “whole body” and sets the course of nature on fire and it is set on fire of hell. (See James 3:6). He goes on to say that “no man” can tame the tongue, it is an unruly evil and it’s “full” of poison. (See James 3:8). (I am sure you have read this scripture before and so have I, but right now, right this moment this is slapping me in the ‘face’!) James goes on to say that with it, the tongue that is, we bless Father God and then we turn right around and curse each other, (Lord have mercy). Out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing and this ought not to be. (See James 3:10). This brings us to: Today’s Scripture Verse(s) – “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Awake to righteousness, and sin not; …” 1 Corinthians 15:33-34a. May the Lord continue to Bless you Richly!
This Week’s Scripture Verse of Encouragement:
“When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them. Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.”
